British technology website The Register posted a
review of Nokia's N-Gage today. "Nokia certainly scores on one point," the reviewer writes, "even the most fashion conscious probably won't mind carrying this device around with them." Although they call the N-Gage an "it's an attractive piece of technology", the review overall was not too positive and they give the device a mediocre 5/10 rating.
On the positive side: the quality of the screen ("shows up even the screen on the GBA SP"), MP3 and radio quality, excellent game graphics, comfortable controls, ergonomic design, and the ability to play wirelessly with bluetooth connectivity.
Chief complaints include: awkwardness of using the device as a phone, some UI difficulties, battery life, load delays, and the fact that one needs to power down the phone and remove the battery to switch games, "an absolutely unforgivable design flaw."
The game they were most impressed with: Tomb Raider.
