Opera Software announced last week its one millionth download of Opera Mobile from its corporate Web site
www.opera.com. This number is in addition to the many more copies that are downloaded from partner and other download sites. Opera's revolutionizing Web browsing experience for mobile phones has quickly propelled it to become the absolute most popular 3rd party application on the Symbian OS.
"Users love getting access to the full Web as a complement to accessing their operators' existing data services. In addition to the industry increasingly adopting Opera, one million people have on their own sought to download and install Opera from our Web site, that's real success for our vision," says Jon S. von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. "After having conquered Europe and started making headway in Asia, the first Opera- capable phones are now appearing in the US market. There's still a long way to go, but we've had a great start".
In addition to having been pre-installed on a plethora of devices, Opera is also
available for download and purchase on all Symbian Series 60 and UIQ handsets - of which the following are currently available in the retail channel: Nokia 6620, Nokia 3650, Nokia 3660, Nokia 6600, Nokia N-Gage, N-Gage QD, Nokia 7650, and Siemens SX1. Free downloads are available for the Sony Ericcson P800 and P900.
