In what could be interpretted as a retaliatory move to combat the newfound threat of Nokia's N-Gage game deck, Nintendo
announced today a wireless adapter for it's Gameboy Advance series of handhelds. The gameboy accessory uses a 2.4GHz radio frequency (RF) chipset and will enable up to five players to play each other wirelessly. The wireless adapter with the new Game Boy Advance software "Pokemon FireRed" and "Pokemon LeafGreen" will be launched in Japan first half of 2004. Retail prices and American shipping dates are unknown at this time.

Nokia has announced that the transaction was completed on September 16th, 2003. Nokia will be utilising Sega.com's SNAP technology in their N-Gage game deck. Details as to what extent the technology will be used are vague at this time.

British technology website The Register posted a
review of Nokia's N-Gage today. "Nokia certainly scores on one point," the reviewer writes, "even the most fashion conscious probably won't mind carrying this device around with them." Although they call the N-Gage an "it's an attractive piece of technology", the review overall was not too positive and they give the device a mediocre 5/10 rating.

Nokia announced that an online service, N-Gage Arena, for it's N-Gage game deck will be available on October 7, the international launch date of the N-Gage system. N-Gage Arena will feature game clips, strategy guides, cheats, walkthroughs, high-score lists, two player gaming, and tools for publishers and developers to create new online content for their games.

Nokia today announced Electronics Boutique as a Canadian vendor for the Nokia N-Gage gaming platform scheduled to launch October 7. The Nokia N-Gage game deck is expected to be sold for $449, and accompanying game cards will be sold separately ranging from $45 to $55.
